This company was founded with passion by whiskey enthusiast Blake Johns.
Blake’s vision for Smokeye Hill was to create something exceptional, and (no offense to his ancestors), something a bit more sophisticated than moonshine. A whiskey that respects not only family tradition, but also the hardworking individuals and local culture of the American Southwest. A heritage whiskey made better than we have to.

Our Process
We set out to prove that the best bourbon doesn’t need to come from one particular region.
Our blue corn mash bill was influenced by Arizona, which we contract distill to our exacting requirements. Then we barrel, age, and bottle it in Colorado Springs. Somewhere between the desert heat and alpine cool, we strike the perfect balance — capturing a bold, unforgettable flavor in every drop. Turns out climate fluctuations and barrel-char makes for a very good whiskey.

As a small, independent, family run business, we think the best thing about our whiskey is the people it brings together. Refined rule-breakers who love telling a wild yarn, cracking a joke, or speaking from the heart when it’s called for.
We’ve seen it bond bootleggers and movie stars, ranchers and shopkeepers, poets and drifters under starlit skies. And we’re just getting started.
